Yellowstone Architects has been great to work with on our commercial building project. Brett is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the building process not just the architectural side. He listens to what his client is looking for and designs a project based on the clients’ needs, not something that is “cookie-cutter”. Brett has been very forthcoming in the cost of his services and he sticks to the time frames he/we have set for the project. He also goes above and beyond in communicating with the city building officials on our behalf. I would recommend Yellowstone Architects to anyone looking for an experienced, hardworking and honest company.

Our experience with Yellowstone Architects was outstanding. Brett spent a lot of time up front getting to know us, our lifestyle and design preferences. He worked in close partnership with our builder to design a home to really meet our needs. Brett made numerous visits to our property to make sure the home would take full advantage of the mountain and valley views. The result was a design that exceeded our expectations.

My partners and I hired Brett Potter to design a Mellow Mushroom pizza on Main Street in Bozeman, Montana. Unfortunately, the corporate team at Mellow Mushroom did not approve of our location/business model extremely late in the game, which was both disappointing and frustrating. An entirely different story/review....
HOWEVER, Brett was by far the best person we could have hired for the job. He is passionate about his projects, works with you directly, and his process is smart and it just works.
Additionally, his rates are very reasonable and he even did a couple of things for us pro bono that we even offered to pay him for. All around Brett is a talented architect, an extremely hard worker, and in general a great guy to work with. Would recommend to anyone doing any sort of project that could

Brett Potter of Yellowstone Architects is a highly skilled and creative architect. He also has the ability to listen and get action items done! I most recently worked with him on a subdivision review. He was able to network, accomplish the initiatives laid out by several parties, and come in on budget and on time! I would highly recommend him.

We have completed several commercial projects and are currently working on our third custom home project with Brett at Yellowstone Architects. You will know the minute you meet Brett that he is passionate about his work, very professional, quite creative and easy to work with. We have always been presented with quality drawings and an open mind for discussion regarding the most efficient processes for production, of our specialty, which is creative metal fabrication. Brett has consistently gotten me the answers I need when I need them and has been fun to work with !

We used YA for the extensive remodel of a historic building in Bozeman, MT. They were very easy to work with, generated terrific ideas, and were always very willing to listen to our thoughts, feedback and concerns. The project offered certain restrictions and challenges because of its historic nature. We found YA to be extremely knowledgeable regarding its idiosyncrasies, the City's codes and inner-workings, and our challenges, even assisting us with applying for a grant. They were excellent problem solvers, very creative, timely in terms of meetings and deadlines, and professional in all ways.
"Brett and Yellowstone Architects have been a pleasure to work with over the years. Brett worked hard to come up with unique and creative ideas that are still rooted in function and cost effectiveness, the results have helped our bikeshop continue to grow and prosper in downtown Bozeman. It's never an easy task to redesign within historic downtown but Brett has the knowledge and experience to design projects that work within the city guidelines, saving time and money. I look forward to working with Yellowstone Architects in the future!"

"Working with Brett Potter from Yellowstone Architects was enjoyable, productive and cost-effective. Brett makes efficient use of modern computer design tools, including 3D visualizations, which was especially important for deciding on the positioning of our house and choosing between various design features such a roofs, trims, window sizes and shapes, decks and patios.
Our house was designed and built while I was still working out of state. Efficient electronic communication via phone, email, and YouTube, together with a few focused decision making trips were essential requirements for making adequate progress. This worked well because Brett is a good listener and can quickly convert new ideas into design concepts that can be viewed in real time. This allowed for a streamlined design process that avoided unnecessary rework.
Brett is very creative. He introduced several attractive design features that combined wood and steel components and required appropriate 3D visualization followed up by accurate construction drawings."

We are currently working on our third project with Brett. We own an older building in the downtown area and have been working on updates over the last few years. The first project was a total facade redo, and although the city would not allow us to do what we wanted, Brett's design was innovative but keeping in touch with the downtown character. We are currently working on a plan for utilization of the upstairs area to decide whether to use it as residential or office space. Brett has done a good job of designing within the confines of the challenging structural limitations. Brett is also very easy to work with.

Brett and the team at Yellowstone provided all the architecture for River Rim Ranch, a master planned community in the Jackson Hole area. Everything from designing 9 different floor plans for our cabin program, our real estate sales and development offices, a large lodge overlooking the river, and conceptual designs for a Ranch Estate program that included 'toy barn' guest quarters. Brett also did all the design work on the future clubhouse programming for the golf and hospitality operations.
Most recently, Brett has lead the team working on doing some redesign and envisioning of the entire land plan in order to gain county approval for needed adjustments to secure the long term viability of the project.
Always a pleasure working with Brett and team!

Brett Potter and I have collaborated on many projects for over a decade. Brett, being one of the most thorough and insightful architects I have ever worked with, was my only referral to my parents who built their retirement home in Redmond, OR. The neighbors call it the jewel of the neighborhood.
He and I worked on many projects together when I was the manger of the metal/fabrication shop of Big Timberworks in Gallatin Gateway, MT. Every project varied from conceptual designs of exposed intricate metal structures that replicate the era of historical train tressels to modern designs of forged metal components that are complimentary to the growing stream of rustic building seen in the North West.
It is common to wait weeks for designs on projects regardless of the reasons. With Brett it has always been the opposite. Months became weeks, and weeks became days. Because of his ability to listen and learn, many projects went from conceptional ideas to the fruition of working drawing all in the course of one long day. I can honestly say, I have never once been displeased or frustrated with his time management, accuracy and attention to detail, or his accountability to the project and those involved.
But Brett is more than just a competent architect. He is an artist, first and foremost. His home is a testament of his capacity to think beyond the reflections of his peers. His patriotism to our town of Bozeman has won the hearts of many in his efforts to encourage sustainable and practical growth by running for a seat as one of our County Commissioners. As an outdoor enthusiast, Brett's approach to building I feel reflects his commitment to retain the aesthetics of our natural surroundings
